HTM Television is proud to bring its latest drama Breathtaking to ITV screens.
The state-of-the-nation series follows NHS medics during the unprecedented, terrifying times of the Covid-19 pandemic.
With HTM’s very own Jed Mercurio (Bodyguard, Line of Duty) as executive producer and writer, Breathtaking is based on the book of the same name by Dr. Rachel Clarke, who wrote the series along with Mercurio and Prasanna Puwanarajah (The Crown, Ten Percent).
Filmed in Northen Ireland, Breathtaking stars Golden Globe winner Joanne Froggatt (Sherwood, Downton Abbey), as the lead character Dr. Abbey Henderson – an acute medicine consultant.
Abbey is a highly efficient, competent and passionate medic who guides her ward with the nurtured experience of a light in the dark, but as the Covid-19 pandemic comes for a woefully unprepared, suffocated NHS, Abbey and her colleagues must keep pushing through the storm of this once in a lifetime event.
It’s a gripping, evocative, tense drama that reinforces to audiences the plight of the UK’s frontline medics during the crisis, and the failures of the bureaucracy to adequately prepare for and respond to the crisis.
